space between motor mount housing and oil filter 200

During my most recent oil change yesterday, I noticed that the space between the motor mount housing and the oil filter was a little more than the width of the part of the oil filter wrench that grabs the filter. I have done countless oil changes on the four 240s our family has owned and I don't remember the space being that small. Does that mean that the mount is failing? Wouldn't the mount fail all at once? Thanks, George
