Engine/transmission swap= 240 into a 740 700 1989

Hello Bricksters:
The wifemobile (89 740 non turbo) has been showing symptoms of a going-out transmission. I think the clutches are sticking and not dis-engaging at stops, especially before warm up. I have done a tranny flush this summer. This calls for a tranny replacement, as a rebuild is about $1200. However, since the PNP junkyard does not allow jacks to be taken inside the yard, I think that removing both the engine and attached AW70 will be the easiest path. I have found a 92 240 with 125K miles on the drivetrain that was wrecked from behind. The final cost (after $80 core charge) is about $300 for both engine plus tranny.
Now for the question: should I change distributors by removing the rear camshft cover from the 240 and installing the 740 distributor, or, should I just use the 240 setup. The 240 distributor/rotor is MUCH cheaper than the 740 rear mounted distributor.
What says the Brickboard Gurus?
Thanks,
el raidman
