Radiator problem 700

About 6 months ago driving to work I started loosing coolant from radiator. Added coolant at gas station and it came right out. Radiator had a leak. Had it replaced along with thermostat at a local shop. Ever since I noticed that Every so often the coolant level at reservoir is below normal and sometimes even below minimum.I add some coolant and I can not trace an external leak anywhere at least when the car is not running (parked no drips in garage floor). Yesterday similar situation happened to my wife with same car. Got to work with smoke coming from under the hood. Got there coolant reservoir empty, added coolant that came right out from lower part of radiator.Car was driven around 500 miles since I last added coolant. The temperature gauge never went above normal. What is happening? Where is the coolant going? Why is the radiator blowing up ? Could it be an internal leak? Any suggestions would be appreciated.Tks
