I need help with gravel guards! 200 1989

So, I've done it all with gravel guards. I've replaced them properly, with 2 sided 3M outdoor/indoor tape, and they still come undone on the ends, especially on the part of the strip closest to the front of the car, making the subsequeant wind-flow pull them back... I've even drilled holes near the front of them, through the guard, and door, and then zip tied them down, but I'm wondering what other people use as far as adhesive or a trick to deal with them? Is it something like "Liquid Nails" on the peeling end with a small clamp until it dries? Or, is replacing the whole thing cleanly with new tape the way to go? I've seriously never fixed them back on successfully, and I once even painted the cracked off area, with a matte black color spray paint, just to keep the visual lines.. Anyone ever have any actual victories with gravel guards?
