About To Pull The Trigger 92 240 200 1992

If you sign the papers for the car, you will have an immediate repair bill for the ABS. Like head lights/tail lights, you don't need them unless you drive in the dark. KenC is correct, the first time you drive into a turn and need to use the brakes, the rears could lock and put you in a dicey situation. The ABS light "on" tells you that the ABS is not working. Just like the SRS light saying that the air bag will not deploy.

For $4000, ALL safety features must work before you buy it. And the driver's seat shouldn't be 'ratty'. There must be maintenance history for the car at that price, not just a mechanic/salesman that says it is good to go.

Read the fine print on the warranty, it might specify where the fixes can be made. Some Volvo dealers refuse to work on the 240's because their mechanics only know how to diagnose a problem with a code reader. Besides, they no longer supply all of the parts.
