How hot does an ignition coil get? 120-130

I'm currently running the "blue" Bosch coil in place of the armored contraption fitted from the factory. I'd like to clean up the engine bay and wiring a bit, and the gaping hole left in the firewall when replacing the coil is a good place to start. It seems the visually cleanest method would be to fabricate a mounting bracket that has just the "head" of the coil protruding from the firewall, with the rest of it extending under the dash. The bracket would also seal up the factory hole. This would place the coil above and behind the pedal assembly. Is this a safety issue? I'm not as worried about grazing a leg on it, but working under the dash after a drive, or having it leak hot oil after a collision.

Next best solution seems to be using a VW-type clamp and mounting it in the same plane as the firewall hole.
