1990 240 with an 850/940 throttle

Discovered recently after I ordered a new throttle position sensor without double checking what was in my car (sensible since every site and part guide say that most 240 all have the same sensor) that my car seems to have a later model throttle that was used primarily in the 940 and 850 and even later models. Is this common or did someone frankenstein in the throttle in the past? Anyone know? Thanks.
