Stainless steel heater core 700 1991

You can do a couple of things. First, install a fiberglass window screen filter beneath the leaf filter in the cowl to filter out drops of water with salt. Then install a loose fiber mesh filter around the air intake to screen the rest of the droplets out. Change coolant to Zerex G-05 with distilled water. Install an OEM heater core.

If your evaporators are not failing at the same rate as the heater cores, your problem is not salt spray intake. I suspect either poor quality coolant or stray engine ground voltages in the coolant. Try securely grounding the new heater core to the body. Check the FAQ for more details.

Nobody makes stainless cores for some good reasons. In addition, the term "stainless" covers a variety of definitions and I have had "stainless" parts corrode very quickly.
