Crankiness. Seeking collective wisdom on issues related to crankshaft, sprocket and keys. 200

As I continue my trek to make the 89 245 completely reliable and road worthy, I've done a slew of things. Right now, I'm changing the timing belt. Someone's been in here before and changed the belt from the "White Out" marks to the use of the "red/orange" seals which leak like crazy! I have purchased the Volvo original seals and I'm in there. Coni belt, new Coni accessory belts too. Anyway, now that I have the crankshaft pulley off, I marvel at the small amount of key actually makes contact with the crankshaft. Only a tiny bit seems to actually go inside the crankshaft pulley and crankshaft. And while I see no visible rounding of the key tabs in the sprocket, there's just not much there. Do people tend to replace the crankshaft pulley sprocket (the sprocket that the timing belt rides on at the crankshaft), or am I just making too much out of this? There are two what I'll call "tabs" on the sprocket itself that serve to lock position relative to the crankshaft. I think I'm used to seeing actual "keys" in keyways and this scares me with just the tabs and the minimal protruding surface area to grab onto and hold it's position against the crankshaft pulley.
