Radio Static after driving about 10 minutes. 200 1991

My stock radio/cassette player begins to have static after
about 10 minutes of driving, before that time it is just fine.
The cassette player via mp3 plays well w/o any static.
When I first checked on this problem a few months ago I saw
that the antenna connection at the radio was falling apart.
I replaced the antenna wire last week, put the problem continues.

Why did they put the radio so close to the heater hoses? OUCH !!!

Thanks in advance,
Joseph in The New Mexico
