Parts and procedures to change later 240's to Points and condenser ignition system in case of EMP.

With all the talk of doom from solar flares and EMP attacks, perhaps it would be a wise move to purchase the necessary components to keep our cars running. For instance, could the distributor be converted or would you need to replace it. What changes would be needed to be made in the wiring.
In a pinch could one just install a set of points and condenser in the distributor then connect it to a coil and battery? It might not be pretty, but would it get you down the road?
There may be many approaches that could keep our cars running. Just wondering if anyone has considered this.
I'm not one of those conspiracy enthusiasts, but I do believe in being prepared.
