New owner of an old Volvo... runs for 10 mins. and then cuts off. 200 1981

I would check the fuel pump relay.

First, pull out the fuel pump relay. It is a rectangular relay under/behind the left hand side of the dash. It's usually clipped up below the headlight switch. Carefully inspect the connector on the wiring harness for signs of overheating... melting, discoloration, etc. Carefully pry the cover off of the relay with a small screwdriver. Inspect the solder joints on the circuit board, especially the large ones that hold the relay in place. EVERY k-jet Volvo I have ever owned has had problems with this relay. If you find a loose solder joint, you can heat it with a soldering iron to reflow the solder, or replace the relay.
