Upgrading the radio

Hello,
Recently I took out my stock radio on my 1990 volvo 240 Dl in hopes of swapping it out with a new alpine I have. But when looking at the wires in the car I learned they are not alike at all and I have no idea which wires to splice together. I do not know much about the radio except for it has a volvo amp behind the glove box and four speakers. If anyone could tell me which wires go where it would help me a lot because i know which wire means what on the alpine due to it coming with a wiring diagram and limited experience with experience. Thanks guys.
