1990-240 transmission update. Auto-RX? 200

History:
Tranny stopped shifting properly.

Mainly not shifting into 4th, but occasionally having problem gettting into 3rd.
I dropped pan. Observed some accumulation on magnet. Screen not blocked.

Flushed using 12 qts, super tech mercon/dextron.
Checked overdrive circuit(relay, wiring). All ok.

Removed solenoid. passageways open, but I cut a grove between the channels anyway.

Probed the overdrive orifices in the tranny with thin screw driver. No obstructions.

After doing these things, problem remained. Not shifting properly.

Approx 200 miles ago, I installed auto-rx(a product, available via the internet), into transmission.

As of yesterday, transmission was shifting properly, smoothly. Getting on the freway had become a no no, but things were going so well until I decided to give a try. Sure enough, I drove half way across sacramento at freeway speeds, with out a problem.

I drove for quite awhile yesterday, waiting for the symptoms to reappear, but they did not.

The jury is still out, but Im hopefull. I will provide further updates.

Suppose to leave the Rx in the trans for 1000 miles, flush, and fill with fresh fluid. That is what I intend to do.

Thanks all

Larue
