spark test / weak spark? 200 1983

(green car that died completely)

So now I'm guessing that I shouldn't have had to shade my eyes and peer closely to see the spark jumping the spark plug gap? Normal outside daylight under the shade of the hood. That was the first thing I checked when this car died; saw a regular spark, so thought that was good.

This mechanic said "irregular" spark.

I'm afraid of all this electrical testing :-) but I'm about to go out there and test the Hall sensor by-the-book -- except where the book says "no spark", I'm thinking "weak spark"...
