By rebuild, I meant disassemble to remove oxidation, protect, and reassemble.

Even if I disassemble (and trash) one of the worst ones, I'll have a better idea of a path to get the goo to where needed. You also mention Deoxit D5. As this is a spray, it might have a better chance of getting to where it's needed without disassembly. Besides your shop, where do you find this stuff? Just what I need is another spray can with 3 lifetime's supply of an exotic chemical.

What about a soak in alcohol + compressed air, er, or some other cleaner/solvent? I realize it doesn't get rid of oxidation, but liquid + rotation might could abrade and float away some of it on the high spots(?)
