To all members: My apologies in advance for mistreating your language.

My personal experience: I had the same symptoms in my amazon, just after buying it.

The cause was mud in the pipe cooling system inside the head.

The solution was to remove a brass expansion plug (see part number 5 on page 15 in the list of engine parts B20 http://www.volvotips.com/index.php/amazon/amazon-parts-manual/amazon- b20-parts/engine / - the B18 is the same) in the back of the head, clean the mud from the end of the inner tube which is like a flute (mud that was solid, I had to use a drill with wire brush wire to clean the pipe end - I did not remove the tube) and close with a new expansion plug.

This was about 8 years and I never have this problem again.
