I may buy an 1800s 1800

There is one here in town. 1967 1800S. Older restoration. Rust in the usual spots but not terrible. Good chrome and rubber. Interior is nice. I may go get it running tomorrow just to be assured that it sounds good. Are the O?D transmissions pretty stout. He says there is a relay disconnected from the speedo so it doesn't go into O/D roght now. Can this be the case? The price is not terrible but I would like him to go down a bit more before I tackle this. He wants $4500.00 for it.
