AC indoor condensation leak 200 1993

Our air conditioner leaked all over the floorboard last summer, especially on long trips. The carpet on the passenger side was thoroughly soaked. The problem was chronic and kept the carpet wet or damp all summer.
I'd like to fix it before we need it for this summer. We've been told we can't fix it without removing the entire dashboard, which is labor intensive.
Any help out there?
