Cruise control Kaput!! 700 1989

Cruise control slowly went downhill (working intermittently) but now not so much.
I've used my mouth to suck (sounds weird, I know, but I don't have a MityVac) and the bellows at the intake manifold collapses, the vacuum holds at the switch by the brake pedal (until the pedal is depressed, then it frees up). The vacuum motor leaks a little into the relief opening where the hose does not connect, but I think this is normal.
I'm thinking it may be an electrical problem, so off to the junkyard I go tomorrow to search for another control stalk.
Is there a control unit for the Cruise Control??
The FAQ suggested that maybe the Bulb failure sensor had something to do with this.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
el raidman
