Fuel sender options and fuel tank question 700 1988

Hey guys, 1988 780, 2.8L. My in-tank fuel unit is shot. This is the unit that consists of the sender and the low pressure pump. I'm sure it can be restored, but are there any known "newer" alternatives that will work?

Also, my fuel tank is ridden with rust particles and all kinds of foreign materials. Is there any way to get the internal baffle out [through the fuel pump sender/pump unit hole] without dropping the tank? I have another tank & baffle that look good but I figured I can start by cleaning the current tank and if all else fails - then I'll go through removal.

Thanks for any and all suggestions. I ‘Preciate it.
