I'd keep a close eye on it. Or more practically, keep alert for repeat of the symptoms, as my experience would tell me your original pump and the one you just replaced are both likely to be good pumps, if the trouble follows the usual pattern of overheated wiring connections between the fuse panel, relay, and pump terminals; the result of galvanic corrosion. I'm still waiting to see a positive displacement fuel pump lose pressure while still being fed sufficiently with fuel and electricity, but as Phil mentions, I've not yet had the experience of a grossly messed up fuel tank.

Many times I've posted my belief that the Bosch main pump is the most frequent unnecessary replacement done on RWD Volvos. It is so expensive, it makes you feel like you are biting a bullet.
