My car failed California NOx smog test. HC and CO way below limit. The test is an in floor dyno at 15 and 25mph. My car was just over the NOx max. This was at a "test only" station but I was advised a new cat would make the car pass. Car originally failed test and then the retest.

Before the retest:
cleaned the flame trap
checked timing
changed O2 sensor
new ignition wires, rotor and cap
spark plugs looked light tan and in excellent condition
adjusted the mixture
checked for exhaust leaks with hose

k-jet
Bosch ignition
California smog version
