Hard starting 940 wagon -- is my fuel pump shot? 900

940 wagon, base model, 120K miles, Bosch ignition. I've had the car for about 4 years, driving around 5k miles a year. It has always required a few extra cranks to restart when warm, but this has never been a serious issue. We've had a snap of unseasonably warm days this week, and the problem has suddenly gotten much worse. Over the last week I've noticed the engine loping a bit after starting it first thing in the morning -- just for maybe 30 seconds -- but it has smoothed out and been fine after that. Today I went for a brief (1/2 hour) drive, stopped the engine for ~20 minutes, and then had a very difficult time starting the engine at all. It cranked and cranked for maybe 20 seconds before it began to fire, and then it stumbled a bit before really catching.

When I got home, I left the engine running and stepped out of the car to open the garage door. What I take to be the fuel pump (roughly below the driver's seat) was buzzing loudly.

Am I describing typical symptoms for a failing fuel pump?
