shudder/vibration when accelerating 700

Trying to find the cause of this shuddering in my car. I own a 1987 760 turbo wagon with 250 thousand miles on it. The last few months I have been noticing that there is a shudder/vibration when I accelerate from a stopped position. The shudder seems to be coming from the center of the car, not at the engine or anything like that. I suspected the U joints or possible the drive shaft hanger bearing, but when I went under the car everything appeared to be firm and OK. The car only shudders when I accelerate from stop. It is fine on the highway etc. I also inspected the tranny support, but that seemed fine too. Anyone ever experience a problem like this ? I would appreciate any advice you can offer.

Thanks,
Mark H
