The green cap holds 150kpa, *twice* the pressure than black caps (plenty of previous discussion can be found). Grey cap is about 100 Kpa, I think. Newer cars than 940 use them, but Volvo just saved money by specifying one cap for all cars that fit it. The green cap may explain the blown radiator hose, as it happened to me too after a few months of using green cap.

Black 75kpa cap generates plenty of pressure to keep engine cool and still a cheap place to start solving your problem. To find one, use 240 for model instead of 740. I got mine at Pelican Parts.
