240 Passenger Door Replacement 200 1991

I had to replace the front passenger door on my 240 after an accident destroyed the old door. I got the new door on but I can't get it to align properly or something. The upper edge of the door opposite the edge where the hinges are is hitting on the door frame between the front and back door. If you slam it, it will close and it looks alright once closed. But then it kind of pops open and if you try to shut it without slamming it you can see that it doesn't line up. I have spent hours trying to adjust it- in one position it closed a little better, but then water was getting in through a gap about a foot up from where the rear-view mirror is. Should I take it to a shop and pay to have them try to adjust it, or is there soemthing else I can try?
