oil pressure gauge 200 1985

I have a turbo 85 wagon that I recently had a problem with the oil pressure idiot light faintly glowing as I applied the brakes. I replaced the sending unit on the block with a dealer part. Everything was fine for several weeks and problem was solved......this morning when I drove it the oil pressure gauge pegs as high as it will go and stays there. It pegs itself as soon as it becomes electrified before the car starts. I go to a buddy who has an extra oil p. gauge and swap it
thinking it has to be the gauge because the sending unit is less than a month old. This gauge does the same thing. The wires at the sending unit are fine the wires are nice and tidy that go around the front of the oil pan where they sometimes deteriorate. The idiot light comes on when the key is on and goes out when the engine starts as it should but the gauge stays pegged???????I guess the sending unit could be bad but..... Anyone ever experience this? Thanks in advance
