96 960 Broken bolt in rear end 900

Hey all. Yesterday my wife was driving her '96 960 wagon and heard a loud pop from the rear end as she pulled into a parking lot. When she tried to leave, the car was making a scraping noise from the rear. She looked under the car to see if anything was stuck under there-nothing. Took it to a nearby shop and they find a bolt that locates the left side of the rear end has broken. They are trying to drill it out and replace it. Anybody ever seen this? Car has 190K miles.I think somebody replaced some rear end parts (based on P/N stickers on various parts)before we bought it 2 1/2 years ago.
