heater control valve 1991 940 se 900

after reading the preventative maintenance section i decided to replace my heater control valve. My last car blew a head gasket after a loss of coolant and i would like to keep this 91 940 SE alive!
The question is Are all of the control valves plastic?
I found a fourseasons one on amazon that looked metal but when it arrived...black plastic.
Should i trust this valve seeing how it is an intergral part of the cooling system?

All hail BRICKBOARD!!!
