Is there a way to test the T-stat inside the airbox? I was going to just try to eliminate the whole flapper and plug it but I thought before I do that I should test it first.

Is it a bad idea to just remove the preheat hose and close off the flapper? I live in a state with no testing required but it does get cold in winter sometimes....If I remove it will it affect the way the car runs in cold weather?
