PCV Oil Seperator return tube broken! 900

Everyone,

I took apart my wife's '94 940 turbo today to replace its PCV system. We removed the oil separator box and attempted to replace the small drain hose. Unfortunately this hose broke off in the middle and now we cannot remove the lower portion. We can grab the hose with a long flexible "grabber" tool but cannot apply enough force to remove the remaining section of the tube. Any tips on how to remove this (besides dropping the oil pan)? Any danger in taking the new tube, cutting off the long part and using just the top lip to seal against the new separator box? Obviously the oil dripping from the separator box will not travel all the way down to the pan but I am hoping this will be OK.

Thanks in Advance!
Brian
