Won't start after replacing Fuel Pump Fuse 4, and Fuse 8 200 1992

I just got a '92 240 wagon. My mechanic went over it and found a laundry list of things to work on, but nothing urgent. So far, so good. Yesterday the interior lights weren't turning on, and the dash clock had lost time. So this morning I replaced fuse #8 for interior lights/clock, and noticed that #4 (oh hi, fuel pre-pump) was all corroded. Being an optimistic fool, I pulled out #4, cleaned the bracket a little, and put in a new fuse.

Now the car won't start. The starter goes, and as the manual says, check fuse 4. Being suspicious, I put back the corroded fuse, but no luck. I rotated each fuse a little and made sure they were seated, in case I knocked one while I was in there the first time. I noticed that #8 was a little loose, so pulled it out and took some pliers to squeeze the bracket together a little. There was a tiny spark when I touched the pliers to the bracket. What even? (Yes, the car was off, ignition at 0).

So, um. I put in new fuses in #4 and 8 (As I put 8 back in, I heard the tiniest crackle), but before I sheepishly call my mechanic, is there anything else I should check or try?
