re: 87 245 auto - coolant temp gauge issue 200 1987

I have an 87 also

I've never done the Temp Gauge fix: removing the Comp Board and putting in the wire.

On the occasion when the guage starts creeping higher, I reach under and behind the dash and giggle the larger 3 pin connector behind that area of the cluster.

the needle on the gauge drops below the half mark to and stays there.

I know it's the guage. I've got a 3 Row radiator and the coolong system is working just fine.

I've done this since I bought the car in 1997. When I first go it I took out the Temp Comp Board and cleaned the contacts....after reading about the problem in an IPD Newsletter. I never got around to doing the "fix".

I got the car with 103K on it...it's now got 192K.

I'd bet everything is fine with your cooling system as you have replaced all the parts. The gauge is just acting strange.
