93 940 Install Regina Fuel Tank Send Unit - P r o b l e m !!! 900

Dear Fellow Brickboards,

Hope you're well. Problem: installing replacement fuel tank send unit (removal was easy) on a '93 940 (Regina). I replaced the send unit on a 1995 940 (single, in-tank pump), which was easy.

I cannot get the fuel send unit barrel to clear the anti-slosh baffle.

Using a string to shorten the barrel was of no help. I can see the end of the barrel. It will not clear the baffle's rear, right-hand (passenger-side) corner.

I've tried lifting, while turning the send unit. No help. I've read the FAQs, including Art Benstein's excellent step-by-step guide. I still cannot get the send unit to seat.

Any ideas? While I appreciate any help, please try to avoid using "it" to refer to a part. Please name the part: specifying the part by using the name is 100% clear.

Thanks for any help.

Yours faithfully,

Spook
