strut mounts and a clunk 900 1993

Good morning,

My 93 940 had what looked like fairly new HD Bilsteins when I bought it 2 and a half years ago. I was impressed by the handling and the ability to dampen even big bumbs but always found the ride a little harsh and noisy. Anyway, a couple of months ago, I noticed a clunk on the driver's side front end when pulling into work in the morning (a slow sharp right turn over a slight curb). Even though I could not detect any significant slop in the ball joint, I replaced it and the sway bar link and the ride seemed much improved with less noise over bumps, however the clunk into work returned within a few days (maybe it never went away). Now I'm thinking maybe this is a failing strut mount.

How do I test for this? Is there an intermediate stage between clunks and the shock emerging through the mount?

Thanks,

Ron 93 940 322,000km
