Intermittent 740 Turbo 700

I posted about this one a while ago and finally got down to look at the car yesterday. It's a 1988 Volvo 740 Turbo wagon. It stalls sometimes and won't restart, other times it runs fine but won't start the next morning.

A mechanic has replaced the fuel pump relay, and the fuel pump.

Yesterday when I arrived the car would not start. First thing I checked was spark (no spark). Next I checked fuel pump (not running). I don't know these cars, I 'kinda' know 240's. There's a 25 amp fuse under the hood, near the battery (similar to a 240 and I know that fuse will kill a 240) - so I took that out, cleaned it, put it back in ~ and the car started right up. Then I pulled it out again... and the car still started right up. (evidently that fuse had nothing to do with it and it was just strange luck)

I cleaned up some ground connections behind the drivers side headlight and cleaned up the fuse box a bit.

Now, the car runs fine - but I don't believe I did anything, and I don't trust it (especially considering it belongs to a 70 year old lady who really can't deal with an unreliable car).

Any thoughts?
