Can I install 240 wagon rear headrests in an 83 244 rear deck? 200 1983

I've got an 83 244 that didn't have rear headrests, but I've found a set of 245 rear headrests that I'd like to install in the rear deck.

I see that I'll need to drill holes in the back deck to fit the metal posts, but I'm wondering if what I'm doing will be safe. Do I need to find the plastic guides from a late model 244, and then find some way to restrain them? These posts don't have any notches on them, so I'll likely need to put a collar of some sort on them.

Anyone ever tried this?
Thanks,
Bruce
