Hey bricknuts!

Been a long time since I posted here, but still have my beloved 245DL. Ever since I got my 1st-gen Honda Insight hybrid, the Volvo has been parked and covered. Well, it looks like I let it sit too long this time and today when I was gonna get it ready for driving I discovered the battery does not have enough juice to start the car. Lights and all electronics work. So I got out a charger and stupid me I thought when charging a battery you connect the RED to positive and the BLACK to the negative terminal. To my surprise sparks cackled when I tried to connect the BLACK to the negative terminal. Did I fry anything? Lights and radio still work after this, but just a bit concerned if I blew the main fuse (in engine bay by battery) or damaged my battery, which is an InterState MT47 and still pretty new.

Maybe I might have damaged the charger, because it doesn't seem to be charging the battery. I'll hear a soft hum when it's working, but it's not making any sort of noise and the needle isn't moving. Funny thing is that when I turn it on, the needle will jump to max and then go back to zero indicating the charger is dead. It's an old model and has been a bit iffy in performance in the past. So now I won't be able to drive my Volvo tomorrow.
