Some questions about 740 700 1991

Hi all,

A while back I had posted that I was planning to purchase a one-owner 1991 740 (naturally-aspirated) as a driver and something to tinker with if need be. Well, I bit the bullet and bought the car. I am amazed at how well this car looks and runs.

First, it is in immaculate condition because the owner was very meticulous - he even provided me with a written history of the car, from the day it was ordered to the day he sold it. It currently has 145k on it - which as everyone knows is nothing for a red-block car - and the mechanicals are solid. It did spend 3 1/2 years in storage in Belgium while he was stationed overseas, and when he took it out after that period, he thought it was prudent to replace all the belts, hoses, and any other major underhood stuff. So it has a new alternator, distributor, A/C compressor and condensor, new plug wires, new serpentine belt, new radiator, and new fan blade. And - he changed the oil every 2,500 miles whether it needed it or not.

So I have just one question about the 740: How many quarts of oil does the B230F red-block take, and can Mobil 1 synthetic oil be used in it? I remember my '96 850 requiring 6 quarts, and I've always used synthetic in that car. Thanks for the advice.
