88 244 Spark advance--Auto or manual? 200

I just finished all the front seals, H2O Pump, Timing Belt and Power Steering Pump. NO LEAKS--Yes!! Took it for a test ride and there seems to be pre-ignition ping at the higher end. Took a look at the Spark Timing and found it to be around 20 degrees BTDC at idle and going further advanced at higher RPMs. Note, I was very careful to have all 3 timing marks spot on when I did the Timing Belt.

Question---- does the 88 have Auto Advance or do I just loosen the lock down bolt and turn the distributor manually and use my Timing Light? If the latter---ANY TRICKS TO FREEING UP THE DISTRIBUTOR?
I have BP Blaster working on it at the present time.

What year starts that Auto Advance Control Feature?

Thanks to all for any responses.
