Mystery hose???

When I had the back of my '87 240 wagon jacked up I noticed a broken hose that has a copper nipple at the end. The hose was cracked open on the end where the copper nipple was. It was dangling around where the fuel pump and filter live. The other end went back in a similar direction to the fuel lines back to the tank except it had its own little entry point and was held in place by a rubber grommet. I tried to find what it leads to by opening the protective cover of the gas tank in the cargo area. However it seems as though it runs through a housing that I couldn't figure out how to access. I pulled the hose slightly and it came right out. I cut the broken piece off and slipped the copper nipple back in but now I don't know where this hose is supposed to plug into. The hose is clear hard plastic the black on the hose is the undercoat.
