Brake Bleeding Problem 444-544 1962

I can not bleed the brakes. New master cylinder, new wheel cylinders, new brake lines and new hoses. I put the system together 2 weeks ago and would open the bleed valve on right rear for a few hours to let it gravity bleed just to get some air out. Went to bleed the brakes and the pedal would go to the floor and after 6 or 7 pumps the pedal would lock up and not go down. I removed the brake light switch and the pedal would not go down. Loosened the master cylinder swivel bolt and the pedal would go the the floor and fluid would leak at the swivel bolt. What happened what would cause the mater cylinder to lock up and not move when I tighten the swivel bolt?
