VIN 1800

Thanks for answering Phil.
The number on the A pillar matches the number on the sticker in the doorjam and is also the first 7 numbers on the plate by the brake power booster for "Type". My problem is that the state police in MA can't find the number in their system even though I know it was registered there in 1982 by the inspection decal on the windshield.
I cannot imagine another number would be assigned but I am at a loss to identify the car legally.
Thanks,
Carl
