I don't know about "curing" the problem but here's three ways to deal with it. Use a higher grade fuel--shut the car off with the tranny in drive (automatic) or slip the clutch out with the shifter in 3rd (stick) as you turn the key (foot on brake, of course)---lower the idle speed. -- Dave
