WAS:Best way to jump start a 6 volt? Now: Starter fluid - OK? 444-544

Thanks to all for your advice & suggestions. I now realize my starting problem is getting fuel to the carbs.
I have the foam air cleaners that a now-deceased member of this newsgroup designed. A friend came over after the car had been sitting for a week or two. He suggested I shoot a little starter fluid into one of the carbs through the mesh filter. I did & the car started INSTANTLY.
I'm concerned about spraying starter fluid through a mesh carb. filter but it worked so well I'm going to be hard pressed not to do this in the future. Am I looking at a possible disaster down the road if I continue to do this? It was so quick & easy.
Comments would be appreciated.
