Dim/intermittent flickering battery light on dash 200 1993

Ok.

The battery light on the cluster is very dimly glowing. When the engine rpms get up it fades a bit and sometimes goes off, and when I slow down to a stop light it sometimes is still glowing very faintly. Upon acceleration, it might flash every now and then. Sometimes it goes off and does not come back on for several days. It is the only light that does this, so I do not suspect the alternator being bad and the battery is strong.

The alternator is < 1 year old. I will have it checked tomorrow anyways. Can anyone provide some other points to check please in the meantime?

Thanks as always.
