Bad batch of intake hoses at FCP? or ??? 200

Today I found the air hose broken clean off the intake hose, again. This is the second time this has happened in the last few months. The short stub (not sure what to call it) that is part of the air intake hose (FCP part# 1367454, also called the "accordian hose") breaks off the main part. Check photos:

I bought one in Dec 2011, which had to be replaced in March. Now this one has broken in the exact same way.

I thought I'd ask before I talk to FCP- is there any way that there is something I am doing wrong to make these hoses fail prematurely? I just can't imagine. No, I'm not tightening the hose clamp to it too much. Or has anyone else had this kind of problem with them?

These are supposed to be genuine Volvo, they cost $14.87 in Dec 2011 when I bought the first one, now they cost $35 or so.
