Underhood Surprise 900 1992

When opening the hood to start changing the oil and coolant after my head gasket change the other day I noticed what appeared to be a silver hose running from the exhaust side of the engine back to the distributor.

Hmmm. Further investigation revealed a 4-foot snakeskin.

The oil and coolant change were completed without incident and the car went on to pass both safety and emissions inspections.

We live in the woods and the last incident like this several years ago was when a funnny smell in the AC of the 1991 240 was due to an decomposing dead racoon that got caught in the belts.
