tacho-what have i done 1800 1967

I fitted the crane electrical ignition to my car and as per the instructions took a loop out of the pulse sensing wire. The tach appeared to read high so i ( remembering Phil S saying that he had found the removal of the loop unneccessary and that i may need to put it back )put the loop back in and now the tach does not work at all. Heres the thing: could i have put the loop back in with the current going the wrong direction ( clockwise at the moment-i had marked the wire with an arrow ), and of course cant remember what it was when i took it off- duh. Next time i will take a photo. Which way does the current flow? from coil thru tach or the other way round and can i test without cutting the the black covering. Does it matter ? May revert to 1 loop to see if i have screwed up. Any thoughts appreciated. Regards David
